My english experience

Hello everybody, today I’m going to talk about my English skills and experience here in the classes, particularly my experience with blogs. I realized just two courses of English at the university, the third and fourth level, actually, I’m on the fourth level and I hope approve. I have a complaint with the English, in my opinion, the English are not focuses on our disciplines, conversely, their prepare us for another things like survive in an English spoken country, not for read papers and scientific literature written in English. Despite this, the blogs experience allows to me improve my fluently and my vocabulary speaking and writing in English.  

I need improve my skills In English, fundamentally my pronunciations and the times. Is very difficult to my know when I have to use the different times and conjugate verbs. Another thing difficult to my is the use of proposition, for example, I have to use on and I use in, this thing are very difficult to me and for my learning. Other important thing is the technical vocabulary, for example, I have to read scientific articles and I don’t understand much, or when I have to write an abstract in English, etc.

Outside the classes I try to use the English in two ways, in the movies and on the internet, because I don’t have foreign friends, or everybody talks Spanish, I cannot practice my English talking with another people, therefore, I surf the internet and I try to watch movies in English to use it.

My study programme

Hello everybody, today I'm going to talk about what I'm studying. Well, I'm studying Social Anthropology, I'm on fourth grade, and even when I've been through several doubts about my vocation, today I can say I actually like Anthropology. 

Yes, I like what I'm studying, but my study program has several problems, and University must solve it quickly to make it better.

On first place, if I could change something, I would like to change some subjects of the curriculum. My study program consists of two years of a common plan, and two years of specialization, and we can choose between Archeology, Biological Anthropology or Social Anthropology. The common plan has never been working on a good way, actually the contents of the subjects are very superficial, and some subjects doesn't eve has relation with the career. Subjects like statistics are important, but today they're not focused on social sciences, and at the end they're not useful for my discipline. Also, the common plan is very focused on the social anthropology approach leavings aside other approaches, like biological anthropology. Another problem is the poor formation on methodology, and the few field trips in this period. I think this is bad because we don’t have an early approach to our discipline, and something that defines us is the ethnography, or field work, and for that, we need field trips.

Now, in the specialization period, we have a lot of problem, because the teachers are very irresponsible and messy. For example, the tests and the homework don’t sort, the marks are out time, and the subjects change every year or even, every semester. We spend much time doing our thesis because we start to learn in this process, etc.

Actually, we are on an process called “Innovación Curricular” and this reform going to change our formation structure.  For example, the implementation of a competence curriculum, focused on soft skills. Another thing, is the implementation of a system of transferable credits, and the possibility of continuing education. In concrete, now we are creating new subjects and a new curriculum. But in don’t have hope on this process.

My next winter holydays

Hello everybody, today I’m going to talk about my next holidays, specifically, winter holidays.  Before start, I really hope have winter holidays, but actually, we are fighting for a new education, and we are on strike. It is possible don’t have winter holidays. Anyway, if we have holidays, I would like to do many, many things.

First, I would like visit the Andes Mountains near my born city, Chillán. I like winter because there is very snowy. I have friend, who has a cottage in the mountains, very close to the Nevados de Chillán Volcano. It is a very nice place, quiet and away from the urban bustle, there is no light, no cellphone signal, it’s a great place to get relaxed and recharges energy.

Another place I would like visit is the 9^th region, places like Villarrica, Curarrehue, etc. and go to the national park near the area, like Huerquehue, Conguillio and Villarrica national park. I understand, it is unreal do this thing in only two weeks, but try to know at least one of this.

I would like to visits these places with my girlfriend and my family, because I would like to share those experiences with my dear people.  And I would like to do trekking,  took photographs, birding. And If I had MUUUCH money, I would like to ski, but, I don’t have money.

Post 4. Literature and Books

Hello Everybody, today I’m going to talk about books and reading

I like read but I’m don’t consider myself a book worm, because I like to spend my free times doing much more things than just reading, for example go out and watch movies. But I‘m read more than the common people. When I was a child, I did not like read, but my parents force me to read. Nevertheless, I liked to read knights and medieval books. Finally, I can’t count how many books I’ve been read on my life, because and I need read a lot on my career.

Generally, I like to read fiction literature and social science books. In fiction literature, I like H.P Lovecraf, Tolkien and Orwell. I don’t have a favorite writer because there's always another who amazes me. My favorites book , mmm, I don’t know but a very important book on my life was Robin Hood, I used to read it many times when I was a kid.

I recently read The hobbit, and I take a few days to read it. This book is about a crew of hobbits and dwarfs who must regain the throne. In this book, the hobbit find a ring, this ring will be the problem of Lord Of The Rings Saga. I will recommend this books to everybody, because is short and funny.

Ecuador

Hello everybody, here is my first blog post and today I’m going to talk about a country I would like to visit.

Personally, I will like travel around all the world, but in this case, I’m going to talk about a near country I will like to visit. When the title said, I really wants to know Ecuador for many reasons, but one of the most importan is because In Ecuador the biodiversity and cultural diversity is important.

Ecuador is a country located in south America, between Perú and Colombia, it capital city is Quito and is located in “the center of the world”. Another important thing is the Galapagos Islands, a very important place with a huge biodiversity.

In Ecuador, I will like visit Chimborazo Volcano because his peak it’s the point more near to the space in the earth. Another place I would like to visit is Galapagos Islands because is an important place to know and learn about different species of animals, fishes and plants.

That’s all, I hope I will visit this place soon.

My blog experience

Hello buddies, this is my last blog in the year. Well, today I’m going to talk about the experience of writing blogs every week, or at least, twice a month. In all my life, I never tried to write in English, only vocabulary and try to read or listen to English, but never I wrote it, as I say, this year was my first year trying to write something in English.

Discussing about something, making understandable an idea is complex in our native language, in another language is more difficult, but I think if you practice with little things, such as write about a photo, you can develop a higher quality of English. But, nevertheless we are future social scientists and we need a specific training in English, because we need to read very specific texts in English, with a complex vocabulary, so, with these exercises, one can develop basic abilities and competitions in English, but it is more difficult to apply this in our careers. For example, when reading medical anthropology texts or an archaeology text we need more knowledge to understand these texts.

Finally, the blog exercises are a basic training, but a necessary exercise, and personally, I learned a lot trying to express my ideas in another language. 

Boas

The person that im goint to talk, is Franz Boas. He was a North American anthropologist born in Germany. He was one of the first modern anthropologists to propose a new method to work. Even, I was not a clever ethnographer, but he started to work in America and Latin America. He opened the first Latin American school of Anthropology in México. In other way, Boas propose a method to understand the different cultures approaching into their particularities, he started to talk about cultural relativism and historic particularism. While his perspective it is not entirely convincing, he started to give a grat and complex discussion against the difussionism and the evolutionism. The approach of Boas overcame the physical racism, and he proposed understand the cultures in relation with their own environment, unlike the evolutionism or the difussionism which understand the culture like a linear and global process whose ultimate expression is the Occidental Civilization. Boas, in my 1^st semester, was the sole author that convinced me.

Finally, He tries to understand the anthropology like one discipline with 3 (o even 4) subdisciplines, like linguistic anthropology, arqueology, fisical or biological anthropology  and cultural anthropology.
